BassTech International supplies Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate (N54-85) from Chemische Fabrik Budenheim. The N54-85 is a mild acid carrier. The “cream of tartar” strength of this product is approximately 170. This means 100 g of N54-85 reacts with Sodium Bicarbonate to produce the same quantity of Carbon Dioxide as 170 g Mono-potassium Tartrate (Cream of Tartar).
The N54-85 has excellent emulsifying and dispersion efficiency and is capable of sequestering alkaline earth and metal ions. When heated, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate melts to give Polyphosphates of various chain lengths.
