Upon arriving in Istanbul, I understood immediately why the area has been immortalized as the center of the universe for millennia. It was an interesting mix of European and Asian culture, forming its own unique blend owned by the local residents. This was a wonderful backdrop for my visit to our newest supplier, specializing in Metal Phosphates. The material is produced in Turkey, taking advantage of competitive feedstocks both from Europe and Asia, offering the best combination of price and performance.
I was very impressed upon touring the facility, seeing the highly automated and sophisticated laboratories to test Anti-Oxidant packages, compositions and finished products. We are currently purchasing Zinc Stearate for use as a lubricant in High Impact Polystyrene production, but will also introduce the products to our markets worldwide. In addition, they also offer a very specialized Calcium Oxide that can be pre-compounded in Rubbers or other materials to ensure a homogeneous introduction into Compounding. I believe this new strategic partner for BassTech will again benefit our customers with our growing product line of high performance products that offer a competitive edge in the market.
Overall, the experience was excellent and I look forward to introducing the Zinc Stearate and Calcium Oxide to our customers in North America and Europe. Stay tuned for my next visit to this motivating country.
