We supply aluminum phosphate-based silicate hardeners called FABUTIT. FABUTIT slowly decomposes in the alkaline environment of the water glass by a controlled release of acidic decomposition products, which reduces the pH value of the composition and precipitates gel like silicic acid. Additionally, the hardeners improve the formation of the silica network in the silicate system. FABUTIT hardeners are completely inorganic and free of halogens. Compared to standard hardeners, water and steam resistance is improved by the chemical modification. The modified hardeners also show improved initial strength, even at lower temperatures.
The products are added to the dry mix in a proportion of 20 – 30% (standard), respectively 30 – 45% (modified) based on the dry silicate quantity. The water ratio should be at maximum 60 parts water to 40 parts dry silicate, preferably at equal proportions. For example, for 100kg of a silicate solution with a solids content of 42% the required amount of hardener is 8 – 13kg (standard) respectively 13 – 19 kg (modified). Fillers can be added according to the consistency required.
